IPAA’s
National Strategic Plan
IPAA’s purpose is to promote excellence and pride in public service across Australia. We give effect to our purpose through the delivery of our National Strategic Plan.
IPAA National Strategic Plan 2025-30
The Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA) has released its National Strategic Plan 2025-30. Developed to promote excellence and pride in public administration systems across Australia, the plan sets out a bold vision: to support a thriving national network of IPAA divisions, united by a shared purpose that fosters a trusted and capable public administration profession.
While the strategy reflects the common goals of IPAA’s work nationwide, it also embraces the diversity of each Division’s intent, membership, and operational model. The plan is structured around three strategic pillars:
- Advancing the Profession through Thought Leadership
Publishing and promoting the Australian Journal of Public Administration, activating discussion and debate, and launching strategic projects to shape responses to sector-wide challenges. - Acting as the National Voice of the Profession
Elevating public understanding of the sector’s value through evidence-based advocacy, prestigious orations, and international engagement. - Showcasing Excellence
Celebrating distinguished leaders via the National Fellows program, recognising influential research through the Sam Richardson Award, and spotlighting success stories and lessons learned.
These pillars are supported by initiatives that include academic engagement, joint endeavours, and high-profile events designed to build trust and pride in Australia’s public sectors.
