I am writing to thank all IPAA members around the country for their support in 2021. It’s been a monumental year—one that’s presented us with a measure of the expected and a deluge of the unexpected. Despite this, Australia’s public sectors responded, adapted and remained unyielding in the purpose of serving our elected governments and the Australian people. I want to acknowledge the amazing work done by those in the public sector to ensure our services remain available, adaptable and accessible, and I thank you for your dedication.

Over 2021, IPAA listened to, learnt from and grew with you. Our Divisions delivered programs and events that met the changing needs of our members. While face to face event opportunities may have been limited, our podcasts, webinars and other online offerings have enabled IPAA members from all jurisdictions to connect across Australia.

At the very successful IPAA National Conference, hosted by IPAA Queensland in November, we launched our new Strategic Plan. This outlines our strategic vision of speaking out as the voice of Australia’s public sectors. In this vein, I have recently published a paper on Bullying and Harassment in the Public Sector in Australia, a call to action for all in the sector to address this significant issue.

Going forward, we will continue to offer IPAA as the platform for discussion and debate, where matters of importance to the sector are highlighted.

We look forward to working with and supporting you in 2022 and wish you a safe and happy holiday.

Best,
Gordon
