NATIONAL
ACTIVITIES

IPAA provides a platform for thought leadership and supports public administration research relevant to an Australian context.

IPAA has hosted an annual national conference on public administration since 1958.

An oration honouring the memory of Sir Robert Garran — Australia’s first Commonwealth public servant — has coincided with the national conference since 1959.

SUPPORT FOR PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION RESEARCH

Public administration research relevant to the Australian public sector has always been a strong focus for IPAA.

One of IPAA’s first acts was to publish a quarterly journal for its members: the Australian Journal of Public Administration. Members can access early issue papers via the AJPA app and explore the full journal archives via a dedicated online portal.

The Public Administration Research Trust Fund is a partnership between IPAA and the University of Canberra to foster research in the field of public administration through small-scale grants.
