IPAA National undertakes the following functions with the assistance of its Executives, Standing Committees and Secretariat under the guidance of its Council:
Organises events – oversee the awarding and monitoring of IPAA National Conferences to individual state and territory divisions. National Conferences are the showpiece for the Institute and its most important annual event.
Presents awards – the National Fellow and Young Public Sector Leader awards go to outstanding public servants; the Sam Richardson award is for the best article in the Australian Journal of Public Administration.
Publishes journals – the Australian Journal of Public Administration, which is Australia’s leading public policy academic journal, and Public Administration Today, which is directed at public sector practitioners interested in the latest thinking on public management.
Makes submissions – on public sector integrity, professional standards and management performance.
Issues media releases – on issues of importance to the public sector.
Provides knowledge – on a wide range of management concepts and public policy topics.
Provides the national website – to promote services of each state and territory division as well as those provided collectively through the national support office.
